Nicole’s First Day at Saint Joan of Arc Preschool

Nicole with her grandparents on her first day of preschool

The Beginning of a New Adventure

Nicole was three years old when she began a brand-new adventure: her first day at Saint Joan of Arc Preschool.

The morning sun was bright, and the sky was a beautiful blue. Nicole sat quietly in the car, wearing her pretty pink dress and carrying her favorite stuffed animal. Her little backpack was ready for a day filled with new discoveries.

When the car arrived at the school parking lot, Nicole’s grandparents got out with her. Grandpa carried a bright green shopping bag, while Grandma held Nicole’s little hand.

Nicole looked around the parking lot. There were cars, teachers, parents, and other children getting ready for their first day.

For a moment, everything seemed unfamiliar.

Grandma looked down at Nicole with a gentle smile.

“Are you ready for school?”

Nicole held her stuffed animal tightly. She didn’t answer right away. Then she looked toward the school building.

It was a big building, much bigger than she had imagined. To Nicole, it almost looked like a castle — a magical school where wonderful adventures might be waiting inside.

Nicole’s First Great Adventure
A little girl, a big school, and a whole new world waiting inside.

Grandpa smiled and said, “Nicole, this is your first big adventure!”

Nicole looked at Grandpa, then at Grandma.

She took a deep breath.

Her grandparents walked with her across the parking lot. Grandma held one of her hands, and Nicole held her stuffed animal with the other.

As they reached the school entrance, Nicole saw other little children walking inside. Some were excited. Some were shy. A few were holding tightly to their parents’ hands.

Nicole was not sure what would happen next.

Would her teacher be nice?
Would she make new friends?
Would she know what to do?

Grandma bent down and gave Nicole a warm hug.

“Don’t worry,” she whispered. “Grandma and Grandpa will be thinking about you.”

Grandpa smiled and said, “Have fun, Nicole. We will see you after school.”

Nicole looked back at them.

For just a moment, she seemed a little uncertain.

Then she turned toward the school.

One small step.

Then another.

And another.

Nicole walked through the doors of Saint Joan of Arc Preschool.

Behind her, Grandma and Grandpa watched proudly.

Their little Nicole was growing up.

It was only the first day of preschool, but to her grandparents, it felt like the beginning of a wonderful new chapter in her life.

And somewhere inside that big school, a three-year-old girl was about to discover a whole new world of friends, stories, songs, games, and adventures.

Nicole’s first day of preschool had begun.

And it was going to be magical.
